Rollover Counselor

Job Summary

This position is primarily responsible for educating participants about rollover options, with an emphasis on remaining invested in retirement. The Rollover Counselor serves as the voice of reason to participants facing the tough decision regarding the actions to take with their retirement assets after separation of service from a previous employer. The Rollover Counselor will assess needs, identify, and recommend retirement solutions in an advice based sales model. The Rollover Counselor will inspire trust and confidence in customers through problem solving, intently listening to customers’ needs, and managing products and/or services through inbound telephone contacts.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to handle inbound calls and use consultative discussions to guide participants in making informed decisions regarding their retirement assets.
  • Effectively manage inbound leads, provide the appropriate amount of follow up, and place outbound calls to participants.
  • Ability to access information from a variety of sources and articulately communicate the rollover process steps to callers in a succinct and professional manner.
  • Leverage internal sales model to engage clients in dialogue, uncover their needs, and position the most appropriate solutions.
  • Record all client interactions via internal contact management system.
  • Act as a liaison between participants and Customer Service departments at other financial institutions.
  • Perform back-office support of the rollover process by managing and monitoring transactions and interacting with third parties involved in the money movement process as required.
  • Work cooperatively and establish positive cross-functional relationships within the organization.
  • Display a positive, helpful attitude and be client oriented with the ability to listen, elicit, educate, and communicate with different personalities and skill levels via email and telephone.

The ideal candidate must be a highly motivated, results oriented individual with the initiative to handle inquiries, requests and concerns while engaging all internal and external parties involved.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred.
  • NASD Series 6 and 63 licenses.
  • Insurance licenses and designations are a plus.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of business development (sales) experience and 2 plus years of customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of consultative selling models and proven track record of sales performance.
  • Knowledge of retirement industry products and services.
  • Client focus and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong investigative, interpretive, and problem solving skills.
  • A keen ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of financial markets and retirement planning.
